Explain what is meant by the dual wave particle nature of light

How do scientists know that light has a dual wave-particle nature. This has always been a question raised by many students. How can i compare the dual nature of light how can i describe the phenomena that can be explained only by the particle model of light. If the light consisted of small particles, the alternating light and dark bands would not have occurred.

It means that light behaves as both. Does a laser make use of the wave nature of light or the particle nature of light or both. But because a laser emits what is called coherent light, it could be argued that the wave nature of light is best at describing the light the laser emits.
